Obituary
Jenny Grace Elliott (nee Kinneer), beloved wife and mother died peacefully Tuesday April 14, 2015 at her home in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She was the youngest of three daughters born to Fredrick Marion and Kathryn (Donoghue) Kinneer of Dayton, Ohio.
Born in Murray City, Ohio on March 12, 1937, she spent her childhood in the rolling hills and woodlands of southeastern Ohio, before her father, a WWI veteran and family moved to Dayton, Ohio, where her father Fredrick Kinneer worked until his untimely death in 1961 at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, as a B-17 bomb-site mechanic.
Jenny married her high school sweetheart just after graduating from Patterson Cooperative "Co-Op" High School in Dayton, in 1955. She is survived by her husband of 60 years Charles "Ron" Elliott, a retired US Army Lieutenant Colonel and Field Artillery officer; and her four children to whom she was devoted for the entirety of her life. Jenny masterfully endured two years away from her husband on two separate occasions during his tours in Vietnam; she raised and nurtured her four young children during those years in her hometown of Dayton, Ohio, with the help of her family and Ron's. Ron and Jenny met in the hallway of their high school; Ron was two years her senior, and a sophomore at the University of Dayton and an ROTC cadet when they married. Her life as an "Army wife" of which she was very proud began upon Ron's commissioning as a Second Lieutenant and first duty assignment as an Artillery officer at Fort Sill (Lawton), Oklahoma. She took to the Army life though it took her far away from her family and home in Dayton, but with the love of her life she was forever contented. From Fort Sill, Jenny and Ron moved about the country and abroad during Ron's successful military career; Fort Lewis (Tacoma), Washington; Sandia Base (Albuquerque), New Mexico; and Fort Bliss (El Paso), Texas; and Zweibrucken and Ansbach, Germany (during the Cold War, the Federal Republic of Germany). Ron's career included a tour of duty as an ROTC cadre member at Ohio University in Athens Ohio during the volatile anti-war era of the 60's; and following his final tour in Vietnam the family arrived in Carlisle with the US Army War College at Carlisle Barracks.
All of her life she was extremely patriotic, proud of her country and support of the Armed Forces of the US and honored to be a part of the "military tradition and way of life." She was awarded the Military Order of Saint Barbara and received special recognition from the President of the United States for her years of support and service as an Army Wife at Ron's military retirement.
In high school she excelled academically; and became an accomplished and published poet who wrote hundreds of poems throughout her life. She was employed with Delco Products while attending high school and upon graduating accepted a position as the Executive Secretary for the President and CEO of GMAC in Dayton, Ohio where she worked until becoming pregnant with her first child. At Carlisle Barracks while living "on Post," she was a member of the Officers' Wives Club, the Editor of the Newcomers Booklet for newly arriving military families, and the Chairman of the annual Foreign Foods Buffet. After her children were grown, married, or off to college, she continued to be active in the Carlisle community and the St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church. An accomplished poet, she was a member of the Carlisle Poetry Society, the Pennsylvania Poet's Society, and the National Poet's Society. She enjoyed her membership with the Carlisle Red Hat Society of Women. Over her many years as a Carlisle resident and since Ron's military retirement she was employed at the Helen Steven's Health Center; Kimberly's Bridal Shop; and the Camella's Sin Tea Room.
Jenny is survived by her loving husband Ron, her four children Jeffrey R. Elliott (and Lori Cross Elliott) of Reading, PA, a partner with the Wyomissing law firm of Kozloff Stoudt and a retired Brigadier General in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard; Kimberly Elliott Johnson (and Larry E. Johnson) of Carlisle, PA, housewife, mother and office support employee with Freysinger's GMC; Kevin F. Elliott (and Brigid McAndrew Elliott) of Fredericksburg, VA, a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and presently Chief, Assistance and Investigation Division of the Office of The Inspector General of the U.S. Corps of Engineers; and Eric S. Elliott (and Terri Myers Elliott) of Minneapolis, MN, and most recently West Chester, PA, the President and CEO of Prime Therapeutics, a pharmacy management corporation.
Jenny has 13 loving grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren who were deeply loved and adored: Sarah K. Elliott, triplets Elizabeth C. Elliott, Christian R. Elliott, Michael J. Elliott, Lucas Elliott Johnson, Hillary D. Johnson, Shanna L. Johnson, Makenna E. Elliott, Kayleigh Grace Elliott, Kevin C. Elliott, Lauren Elliott Nappi, Mark T. Elliott, and the youngest grandchild Kyle S. Elliott; and great-grandchildren Stella, Zoie, Lilly, Lexi and Anthony. She was predeceased by her adored sister Eunice Ann Kinneer Langley (and Joseph Langley) and further survived by their children Timothy and her dearly loved niece Michelle Langley Burneka and her husband Charles. She is also survived by her loving sister Joy Kinneer Koontz (and James Koontz) of Keene, NH and their children Mark, Jill, Jenny and Bradley. Jenny will be missed dearly by her family.

A visitation will be held from 6 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA where a Prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 22, 2015 in the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Dr., Carlisle, PA. Rev. Brian J. Wayne will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA.
