Obituary

Jeannette M. Taylor, 94, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle.  She was born in 1924 in Newburg and was a daughter of the late Chalmers P. and Elizabeth (McCune) Means and was the widow of Charles Taylor.

Jeannette was employed as an elementary school teacher for the Norristown, PA, school district, 1962 to 1963 and in the Carlisle Area School District's Crestview Elementary School, where she taught 3rd grade from 1963 to 1984 when she retired. She enjoyed family, painting, and her companion dog in retirement.

She is survived by children; Stephen Taylor and wife Dawn, David Taylor and wife Lois, and Karen Berger and husband Harry; six grandchildren, three great-granddaughters, one great-grandson, sisters; Ann Means Hockersmith, Barbara Means Berkley and sister-in-law, Barbara, Bryson Means. Jeannette was preceded in death by brothers; Robert Means and wife Betty McClay Means, Chalmers E. Means; sisters; Margret Jean Means Loy and husband Harold Loy, and Marjorie Means Martin and husband Maurice Martin.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. in the Henry Chapel at Chapel Pointe, 770 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Pastor Linda Slusser officiating.  Fellowship will follow the service at Chapel Pointe.  www.EwingBrothers.com.
