Obituary

Jeanne E. Creeden, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed peacefully into eternal rest on November 3, 2018. She was born on January 26, 1928 to the late Hayes T. and Edna (Geiger) Englert in Chester, PA.

She graduated from Oil City High School in 1946 and became a licensed registered nurse after graduating from Oil City Hospital School of Nursing. Jeanne was a registered nurse at the Harrisburg Polyclinic Hospital, the US Army Hospital at Fort Belvoir, VA, and the Dunham Army Hospital in Carlisle.

Jeanne was a loving wife and mother. She retired from nursing after the birth of son Louis, who has Down Syndrome. Jeanne dedicated herself to ensuring a happy life for all her children. She nurtured Louis' love of water and was especially proud of his Special Olympics' accomplishments. Jeanne loved everything the beach had to offer, and family vacations were often spent at the Jersey Shore. Wonderful memories of those times will remain with her children and grandchildren forever. Jeanne loved to socialize and was blessed with many enduring friendships that brought her much happiness in her lifetime. In her earlier years, she loved a good game of cards, reading, playing golf, and sewing. Even as her health declined, Jeanne was an inspiration to her family. She always offered her assistance to others, regardless of her own health condition. Her humor and sparkling personality endeared her to many, which along with her Catholic faith, sustained her in challenging times.

Jeanne was preceded in death by Paul, her husband of 63 years, her infant son, David, her parents, sister, Betty Englert, and brother, Hayes Jr. She is survived by her sister, Nancy Englert Webster of Bridgewater, NJ; daughter, Elizabeth and son-in-law Robert Winkler of Vernon, CT; son, Paul and daughter-in-law Renee of Fruita, CO; son, Louis of East Hartford, CT; granddaughters; Kristen (Michael) Madsen and Stacy (Marco) Aguiar; grandsons; Eric (Sasha) Creeden and Sean (Amanda) Creeden; and her beautiful great-granddaughters; Grace and Emily. Jeanne is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Jeanne's family wishes to sincerely thank her wonderful care givers from Visiting Angels and at the Village at Buckland Court. The family also thanks her hospice nurses at Prospect VNA for their exceptional care and kindness.
