Jean Z. Jeffries, 95, formerly of Carlisle, died on Monday, November 26, 2018 in Providence Place Retirement Community in Drums, PA. She was born on February 16, 1923 in Harrisburg and was a daughter of the late Howard and Margaret (Hocker) Zarker and was the widow of James C. Jeffries who died on May 6, 1992.

Jean graduated from Lemoyne High School in 1941. She served in the U. S. Marine Corps and was a veteran of World War II. Jean retired from the Dickinson College Library, Carlisle.

She is survived by two sons; James R. Jeffries of Willow St., PA and Douglas H. Jeffries (wife Faye) of Ocean Pines, MD, three grandchildren; Sara R. Dudeck of Philadelphia, Jacob H. Jeffries of State College and Jessica Evans of Belmar, NJ and one great-granddaughter, Emily. Jean was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra K. Brady.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Westminster Cemetery, 1159 Newville Rd., Carlisle. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle is in charge of the arrangements. www.Since1853.com.
