Janice E. (Chronister) Sale, 82, of Carlisle, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023, at UPMC West Shore.  She was born on September 27, 1940, in Carlisle and was a daughter of the late Clarence Elmer Chronister and Dollie Elizabeth (Martin) Chronister.  Janice was the widow of Elmer Sale who passed away June 18, 1989.

Janice graduated from Carlisle High School in 1958.  She was employed from 1980 to 2004 with the federal government and retired from the Dunham Army Clinic in medical logistics at Carlisle Barracks.  Janice was a member of Carlisle United Methodist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Charles E. (Sally) Sale of Sioux Falls, SD, Matthew C. (Jane) Sale of Ruther Glen, VA and David M. (Hope) Sale of Carlisle, four grandchildren, Brittany Ann Sale, Sebastian James Sale, Faith Lynn Sale and Lisa Ann Sale and many nieces and nephews.  Janice was preceded in death by three sisters, Twila M. Otto, Betty L. Thomas and Margaret L. Chronister and three brothers, Wayne L. Chronister, Robert E. Chronister and Marlin L. Chronister.

A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2023, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Rev. Jacob Waybright officiating.  Interment will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.  Memorial contributions may be made to Carlisle United Methodist Church, 333 S.
