Janet Elizabeth Porter, 79, of Mt. Holly Springs, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 28, 2017. She was born May 9, 1938 in Mt. Holly Springs, and was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Romaine A. (Donnelly) Slusser.

Janet was the most giving, loving and selfless mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, homemaker and always put her family, God and others first. She adored her pets and loved animals.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Earl D. Porter, four children; Connie (husband, Mel) Coleman of Gardners, Jennie "Eileen" Coleman of York, Earl (wife, Diane) Porter of Bloserville and Sandra K. Morrison of Carlisle, two sisters; Nancy Gsell and Rebecca Mitchell, both of Carlisle, 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 3 brothers; Lloyd Slusser, Paul Slusser and Marlin Hamilton, 3 sisters; Shirley Ann Showers, Rovene Wilson and Betty Sweeney.

A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2017 followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Mark Sweeney officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery. www.Since1853.com .
