Obituary

Jane Warner Greenawalt, of Mechanicsburg, passed away at home on Jan. 7, 2020 after a short illness. She was 89.  Jane was born on Sept. 24, 1930, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of late Irvin Burns and Margaret (Souders) Warner.  She lived in Rome, NY, before moving to Penbrook, PA.

Jane married Robert Keefer Greenawalt, Jr. on Aug. 29, 1953. She was a graduate of John Harris High School in Harrisburg and Central Pennsylvania Business College, and worked at the Middletown Air Depot and the Naval Support Facility in Mechanicsburg.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth Elaine Greenawalt of Mount Holly Springs; her son, Robert K. Greenawalt, III, his wife Lisa Hamm-Greenawalt of Lakewood, CO; and two much-loved grandchildren, Aryk and Gavin. She also leaves behind a niece, Rebecca (Mansberger) Dolan.  Jane was predeceased by her husband, who passed away in January 2001, and her older sister, Helen Warner Mansberger.

Jane's greatest joy was supporting Pennsylvania Area M Special Olympics, through which her daughter Beth participated in a number of different activities over the past half century, even winning medals at national competitions and being inducted into the Pennsylvania Special Olympics Hall of Fame. Jane was regularly seen cheering from the sidelines at bocce games and watching bowling tournaments. She was also an avid landscape photographer who enjoyed expeditions with the West Shore Camera Club and relished traveling wherever her son Bob lived, including Germany, Vermont, New York and Colorado.

A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2020 followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, 5000 Simpson Ferry Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA 17050, with Pastor Bobby Jones, Jr. and Rev.
