James E. Miller, 88, of Carlisle, PA peacefully passed away on May 1, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.  He was born March 14, 1937, in Newville, PA to the late Alexander E. and Blanche I. (Oiler) Miller.

James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.  He lived a life defined by kindness, integrity, and unwavering love.

James developed a strong work ethic at an early age. He served in the  U.S. Marines, achieving the rank of sergeant, and received an honorable discharge. He then dedicated 40 years to his career at AMP Incorporate where he worked as a Die Repairman and Trainer.

James was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Carlisle.  He found joy in the outdoors, spending time hunting and fishing, and playing golf with his wife.  His wisdom and warmth made him a pillar of strength to his family and friends.

James is survived by his beloved wife Dorothy A. (Myers) Miller of 63 wonderful years. His son Daniel J. and Carey Miller of Boiling Springs, daughter Elizabeth A. and Mark Ferry of Newville.  Six grandchildren Genevieve and Alex Miller; Trent, Hannah, Alaina, and Laura Ferry; and several nieces and nephews.  Jim was preceded in death by two brothers, Glen and Paul Miller and one sister Marian Miller.

A funeral service will be held Thursday May 8, 2025, at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover Street, Carlisle with Rev. Clarke officiating.  Visitation begins at 12:00 noon, followed by the service at 1 pm. Burial will follow at Upper Frankford Brick Church Cemetery, Newville, where the Cumberland County Honor Guard will present a final salute in recognition of James' service.
