Obituary

James E. Felts, 68, of Newville, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012, in the Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle. He was born Saturday, March 18, 1944, in Raleigh, NC, a son of the late James G. and Mae (Sebastian) Felts.

Jim attended Biglerville High School. He formerly worked as a farmer and had also worked for Shotts Furniture in Hanover and for Knouse Foods in Peach Glen for 15 years. Jim retired after 24 years of service with the former John F. Walters Excavation in Newville. He was of Protestant faith and enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking walks, gardening and playing with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Janet D. (Miller) Felts, two sons; Perry W. Felts and James E. Felts, both of Carlisle, two daughters; Toni L. Darhower of North Carolina and Sandra D. Maxey of Carlisle, three step-daughters; Lori Keller Felts of Newburg, Robin Nickle of Walnut Bottom and Penny Myers of Shippensburg, two brothers; George and Rayford Felts, both of York Springs, two sisters; Aggie Spielman and Miranda Brown, both of Hanover. Jim is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters; Lois Schoolcraft, Nancy Galbreath and Barbara Lorenson and one step-son, Robert Ickes.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2012, at 11:30 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Richard Reese officiating. Burial will be private. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Holly Springs Church of God, 602 McLand Rd., Mt. Holly Springs, PA 17065.
