IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James A.
Clouse
July 6, 1936 – April 21, 2025
James "Jim" Clouse, age 88, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of service, laughter, and love.
Born on July 6, 1936, in Newville, Pennsylvania to Ruth (Keck) and Albert Clouse. 4 years later his brother Bob arrived. Jim was known for his bright blue eyes, wide and welcoming smile, and a quick wit that could light up any room. At just 17, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, later joining the U.S. Air Force where he served as a military police officer during the Korean Conflict. While stationed in Korea, Jim volunteered at the Angel Orphanage in his free time, quiet acts of compassion that would echo for decades in the heartfelt letters he received from the now-grown children whose lives he touched.
After returning to the States, Jim was stationed in Spokane, Washington, where he met the love of his life, Patsy Kelly. They were married in January 1962 in Anaconda, Montana, and eventually settled in Pennsylvania where they welcomed 3 girls. He made countless sacrifices to ensure they received a strong foundation, including sending them to private Catholic schools. He took great pride in supporting their various sports, school events, and activities, always their loudest cheerleader and steadfast supporter.
He loved his wife's extended family from Montana/Washington State and made it a point to keep his daughters connected through many road trips over the years. He deeply cherished the close relationships with those relatives who, despite being thousands of miles away, remained a constant presence in his and his daughters' lives."
Jim built a successful career in the life insurance industry, respected for his honesty, drive, and care for his customers. Beyond work, his heart belonged to family and service. He took great pride in his involvement with the Cumberland County Honor Guard, Marine Corps League, American Legion, VFW and the Knights of Columbus, always ready to lend a hand or share a story.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Pat; his daughters Shelly Morrow (Deemer) and Wendy Deibler (Mike); four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Toni Myers, and his granddaughter Ryan Howard whose memories remained close to his heart. He was also preceded in death by his mother Ruth Keck Clouse and brother Robert "Bob" Clouse.
Jim Clouse lived a life of purpose and warmth. He was a protector, a storyteller, a volunteer, and a man who never missed an opportunity to make someone laugh and smile. His impact will be felt for generations, and his memory cherished always.
