Jack K. Hench, 92, of Enola, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at UPMC West Shore. He was born on June 26, 1931, in Carlisle and was a son of the late William Saylor Hench and Lottie Paxton Hench He was married to the late Lois Ann (Fair) Hench who died January 11, 2023.
Jack and his late wife owned and operated the "Ye Olde Ale House" in Mechanicsburg for many years. He had worked for Giant Foods for several years. He was a US Army veteran and served during the Korean War. He was a member of Carlisle United Methodist Church, the Mechanicsburg Club and the Carlisle Elks Lodge. Jack enjoyed golfing and was passionate about wood carving even into his later years.
He is survived by twin sons, Blaine and Keith Hench both of Mechanicsburg, one brother Bill Hench of Carlisle, six granddaughters, Maret Hench, Aliyah Hench, Karis Hench, Brittany Harris, Haven Hench and Jewel Currie and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son Alan Hench, three brothers, Rob, Harold and Elwood Hench and two sisters, Dorothy and Martha.
A visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2024, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. in the Carlisle United Methodist Church, 333 S Spring Garden St, Carlisle, PA 17013 with Pastor Mira Hewlett officiating. Burial will be in Ashland Cemetery, Carlisle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to his church. www.EwingBrothers.com.
