IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ignatius Joseph
Santinoceto
August 19, 1933 – January 7, 2026
Ignatius Joseph "Joe" Santinoceto, 92, of Carlisle, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at UPMC Carlisle, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on August 19, 1933, in Clearfield, PA, Joe was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Curtorillo) Santinoceto. From the very beginning, Joe lived a life marked by quiet strength, steady devotion, and deep compassion.
Joe graduated from Clearfield High School in 1951. He attended The Pennsylvania State University until he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where Joe was trained as a medic and was assigned to the 11th EVAC Hospital. He received a letter of commendation from his commanding officer for the care he gave to the wounded. As a proud U.S. Army Korean War veteran, he carried the discipline, humility, and perspective shaped by those years for the rest of his life. When he returned home, he continued to build his future through education—earning a B.S. degree in Accounting from Tri‑State College in Angola, IN on the G.I. Bill.
Joe's career spanned decades where he worked for several companies and held various positions in finance. In 1978, Joe's work took him to Fort Worth, Texas. In 1992, he and two partners purchased International Benefit Services (IBS), a third-party administrator. Joe and his partners operated the business before selling it in 2001, at which time he retired. In retirement, Joe continued to work in the finance field as a seasonal tax professional with H&R Block in both Fort Worth, TX and Carlisle, PA where he enjoyed helping individuals and families understand their taxes and finances.
Faith and community were also part of Joe's life. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lewistown Jaycees. Joe and the other members of the Lewistown Jaycees were especially proud of building a first-of-its kind facility for The ARC of Pennsylvania, which served as a day program for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Lewistown area. In 2005, Joe and his wife Rosemary relocated to Carlisle where he continued his community service as a member of the Carlisle Kiwanis and St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Love and family defined Joe's life, especially the love he shared for his devoted wife of 68 years, Rosemary A. (Brigandi) Santinoceto. Together they built a family rooted in warmth, humor, and loyalty.
Joe is survived by four daughters, Carol (Mike) Dukes of Carlisle, Linda Santinoceto and her husband Mike Snow of Auburn, CA, Lisa (Joe) Hutchings of Omaha, NE, and Katherine (Tim) Blanchette of San Ramon, CA. He is also survived by his brother Joseph (Phyllis) Santinoceto of Cape Charles, VA, his nephew Nicholas Santinoceto of Clearfield, PA, along with many other beloved nieces and nephews.
Joe's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a source of immense pride and joy. His grandchildren and families include: David and Michelle Dukes, and daughters Madison and Sophia, Eric Dukes and Kate Farrisi, Nick and Cory McCracken, and children Nina and Ignatius, Rachel and Jordan Basta, Sarah and Bryce Whitehurst, and son Mason, Jack and Bree Hutchings, Angela Hutchings, Frannie Hutchings, and Mia Blanchette.
Joe was preceded in death by his daughter Anne Marie Santinoceto, his brothers Anthony and Carmen Santinoceto, and his sister Ann Santinoceto. Though they left before him, Joe held them close in memory and faith.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Joe's life at St. Patrick Church, 87 Marsh Drive, Carlisle, PA, on Tuesday January 13, 2026. A closed casket visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Chiedozie F. Ononuju officiating. A fellowship luncheon will immediately follow the service in the church hall. A private burial will take place at Juniata Memorial Park in Lewistown.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. William Vonah for his excellent care through the years and to Synergy Home Care for the compassionate care provided by their caregivers. www.EwingBrothers.com.
