Helen A. Zdipko, 99, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2011 at Forest Park Health Center, Carlisle. She was born on Tuesday, October 17, 1911 in Wilkes-Barre, a daughter of the late Otto and Mame (Conrey) Straub and the widow of John Zdipko, who died March 23, 1988.

Helen worked in the garment industry before retiring in the 1970s. She was a loving homemaker and enjoyed music and traveling.

She is survived by two daughters; Deborah L. Bittinger (and her husband, Barry) of Carlisle and Margaret Chabala of Houston, Texas, son-in-law, William Engle of Wyoming, PA, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by a daughter, Rose Marie Engle, who died April 13, 2005, two brothers and two sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 4, 2011 at St. Mary's Cemetery, S. Main St., Wilkes-Barre. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements.
