Obituary

Helen M. Snyder, 82, of Carlisle, passed to eternal life on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, at Harrisburg Hospital. She was born on January 4, 1931, in Shermans Dale, a daughter of the late Wilmer R. Adams and Ida M. (Bentzel) Adams.

Helen retired from the Cumberland County Courthouse after 15 years of service. She had also worked several years with the former AMP Inc. Helen was a loving homemaker who always put the needs of her family first. She loved to cook and her potpie, chicken corn soup or fudge will never be duplicated. A pot of coffee was always ready when you arrived for gossip. She was never at a loss for words, and she loved her bingo. She had a tremendous group of friends and neighbors. Helen always had a special place in her heart for animals, whether it was a stray cat, wild birds or even the squirrels that gathered on her bird feeder, they always left the same way, with a full belly. Her dog, Lucky, is already missing her. Even with the uphill battles she fought against her health issues, she never failed to make sure she was there for whoever needed her. There will never be another Helen and God has truly gained an extraordinary angel.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 62 years, Stern W. Snyder, Jr.; a son, Dennis W. Snyder (and his wife, Joyce Sheaffer) of Carlisle; a daughter, Deborah K. S. Campbell (and her husband, David) of Carlisle; a sister, Janice K. Rosenberry (and her husband, Jack) of Carlisle; her beloved grandchildren: Kristina M. Snyder, David L. Snyder, Jr.(and his daughters, Kendall and Kylee Snyder), Kara A. Snyder, Lucas W. Campbell, Traviss C. Campbell and Rachal M. Campbell and several nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her son, David L. Snyder, Sr., who died in 1991. Also preceding her were her two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at 11 a.m. in the Mt. Holly Springs Church of God, 602 McLand Rd., Mt. Holly Springs, with Pastor Richard Reese officiating. Burial will follow in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements.
