Obituary

Harry D. Priest, Jr., 90, of Carlisle, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2025, at home with family by his side.  He was born on February 6, 1935, in Carlisle and was the son of the late Harry D. Priest, Sr. and Josephine (Clay) Zimmerman.

Harry graduated from Carlisle High School in 1953 and shortly thereafter enlisted in the U. S. Navy.  He served 20 years in the Navy and retired with the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer. Harry earned his Bachelor's Degree from Roosevelt University and his Master's Degree in Education from Penn State University.  After retiring from the Navy, Harry taught at Cumberland – Perry Votech School, Mechanicsburg and then retired again from York Technical Institute as  Superintendent.  Harry was a member of Middlesex United Methodist Church and the former Grace United Methodist Church where he was recognized for his Adult Education Ministry as well as his years of service as a member of the Ushers Association. Harry loved sailing, reading, woodworking and sharing his faith with others. During his high school years, Harry was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corps.  He formerly served as the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army and was recognized for his uncounted hours of volunteer support and caring.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years Janet L. (Dunbar) Priest, two daughters, Barbara (Al) Stackhouse of Boiling Springs and Susan Lafrentz of Carlisle, three grandchildren; Austin (Vanessa) Weibley, Justin (Megan) Weibley, Tyler Lafrentz and one great-grandson, Joseph Weibley.

Services will be held at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Middlesex United Methodist Church. www.EwingBrothers.com
