Obituary

Harry E. Failor, Sr., 73, of Carlisle, died Friday, March 18, 2011, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. He was born on Tuesday, March 30, 1937, in Plainfield, a son of the late Parker E. Failor, Sr. and Martha I. (Dunkle) Failor.

Harry retired after 33 years of service with the Borough of Carlisle, where he was a foreman with the Street Department. He also had worked for the former Duffy-Motts Cannery in Aspers. He enjoyed and loved his family, hunting, fishing and spending time at the family cabin in Perry County. Harry was a member of the Tuscarora State Forest Owners Association.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 51 years, Audrey E. (Ickes) Failor, his children; Harry E., Jr. (and his wife, Helen) Failor, Bryan E. (and his wife, Tina) Failor and Scarlet E. Railing, all of Carlisle, brothers; Parker Failor, Jr., Paul Failor, Lawrence "Buzz" Failor and John Failor, all of Carlisle and Eugene Failor of Gardners, sisters; Alice Clepper of Mt. Holly Springs and Sarah Myers and Charlene Shaffer, both of Carlisle,five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Harry was predeceased by a son, Wayne Failor, who died in 1967, sisters; Elizabeth Barclay and Katherine Newhouse and a son-in-law, Michael Railing.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Richard Reese officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Viewing will be on Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
