Harry "Pete" Casoni, 85, of Carlisle, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg. He was born on May 4, 1933 in Philadelphia and was a son of the late Peter and Derna (Paloni) Casoni.
Pete graduated in 1951 from Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a graduate from IBM Institute in Ellicott, New York. In 1969 Pete joined the PHEAA and served as an Information Technology Director. He oversaw many innovative projects such as automated equipment in financial aid offices for all state related colleges, and the design of an internal message system similar to today's e-mail. Later Pete serves as Senior Deputy for Contract Servicing where he helped PHEAA in its infant stages evolve into one of the nation's leading student aid organizations. Pete retired from PHEAA in 1988.
Pete was an avid golfer and a long-time member of Colonial Country Club. He golfed at some of the nation's top golf courses including, Pebble Beach, Torey Pines Cyprus, Merion, and many more. He was a frequent traveler to the California area to visit family. In his later years he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his pets. He was active in his areas homeowner's association and local township affairs. Pete had a love of all types of cars through his lifetime.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Susan L. (Carson) Casoni, two sons; Peter of San Jose, CA and Paul of Santa Cruz, CA, one daughter, Lisa of Ojai, CA and his former wife, Margaret Murphy Casoni of San Jose, CA.
A visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018 followed by a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Rev. Barbara Albert officiating. Internment will be at the convenience of the family at St. Dominics Church Cemetery, Philadelphia, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice or to the Cumberland Goodwill EMS, 519 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
