Harriet received her formal education in the Carlisle Public School System and graduated from Carlisle High School in 1959. Upon graduation, Harriet pursued her passion for helping people by enrolling in the Carlisle Hospital's School of Nursing. Upon completion of the License Practical Nursing Program, she began her career in nursing. Harriet later went to work for Blue Cross Blue Shield and retired after 25 years of dedicated service. Harriet loved caring for people and even in retirement she worked for Claremont Home as well as private duty nursing care. Harriet became the taxi driver, advisor, and cheerleader for her granddaughter, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Harriet loved The Lord and accepted Him as her personal Savior at a young age. She united with West Street African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church where she was a lifetime member, served as a Deaconess, as the President of the Missionary Society, a Stewardess, a member of the Trustee Board, a member of the Lay Council, and the Mother of the church.
