Gretchen Stever, 53, of Carlisle, passed to eternal life on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at West Shore Hospital, Mechanicsburg.  She was born on January 2, 1968 in Huntingdon and was a daughter of the late Robert Stever and Mary (Bair) Stahl.

She was a 1985 graduate of Carlisle High School.  Gretchen worked at several local employers that included Spherion Staffing in Carlisle, New Visions and CareerLink.  In her free time, she prepared dinners and fed the community from her home, which was affectionately known as, "Soul Scoops".  Gretchen was a member of the Haines-Stackfield American Legion Post 826 Ladies Auxiliary.

Gretchen will be remembered as an angel in the community, always generous with her time and resources. It was routine for her, when hosting Thanksgiving dinner, to send out an open invitation to anybody that would not be having a Thanksgiving meal, to come join her family. Even small opportunities to reach out were not lost on her - cooking a little extra and delivering it to a neighbor who needed it was routine for Gretchen. She was also known to reach out to young people in the community, teaching them life skills and helping to provide stability in their lives. She even reached beyond her immediate community, collecting clothes and other donations, and providing them to families in need in the area and in her adopted community in Jamaica.

She is survived by two sons, Cameron Stever and Jordan Stever both of Carlisle, one sister Amber Stever of Arizona, one brother Timothy (wife Nike) Stever of Lowell, MA, 12 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and her extended family, including Jackie Palmer, Gail Palmer Parker (husband Jeffrey), and the entire Palmer family.
