Goldie E. Jenkins, 82, formerly of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, in the Chambersburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born on April 11, 1944, in Dry Run and was a daughter of the late Jesse Gamble, Sr. and Della (Guyer) Gamble. She was the widow of Owen Edward “Ed” Jenkins, Jr. who passed away on October 9, 2017.
Goldie worked 29 years for Kinney Shoe Corporation as a sole cutter and finished her work career at Ross Distribution, both of Carlisle. She attended Grand Point Church in Chambersburg. She loved baking, helping other people and her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons, Rodney L. Jenkins of Three Springs and Randy E. Jenkins and his fiancé Jennifer Nelson of Carlisle, two daughters, Elizabeth A. Jenkins of Camp Hill and Sherry D. (husband, John, Sr.) Russell of Shippensburg, one brother Jesse Gamble Jr. of Carlisle, one sister Sylvia Peck of Chambersburg, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Earl Gamble and Lloyd Gamble and sisters, Mabel Gamble, Irene Cummings and Arvada Latherow.
A viewing will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 14, 2026, followed by a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St, Carlisle with Pastor Glenn Peck officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Newville at the convenience of the family. Visit www.Since1853.com to send condolences.
