Gloria J. Bates, 67, of Newville, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024, at home with family by her side.  She was born on June 14, 1957, in Carlisle and was a daughter of the late Samuel E. Armolt and Florence (Stotler) Armolt.

Gloria attended Big Spring High School, Newville.  She was a Certified Nursing Assistant and had been employed with the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home in Carlisle.  Gloria attended Doubling Gap Church of God, Newville.

She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Samuel L. Bates, one son Nathan (wife Lori) Chronister of Newville, three sisters, Rhonda Hall (Ed) of Newville, Cindy Lohman (Rich) of Virginia Beach, VA and Julie Davis (Bill) of Dillsburg, two brothers, Lester Armolt of Newville and Terry Armolt of Norfolk, VA, one stepdaughter Shannon Newcomb, three grandchildren, Gracie Edwards (Elias), Mike Chronister and Josh Chronister, one great-grandchild, Lily Edwards and many nieces and nephews.  Gloria was preceded in death by one son Michael Chronister, one sister Darlene Armolt and one brother Samuel Armolt.

Services and burial will be at the convenience of the family in the McClure's Gap Church of God Cemetery, Newville with Rev. Donald Snyder officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  www.EwingBrothers.com.
