Obituary

Glen A. Bannon, 65, of Carlisle, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2012, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born on Saturday, August 16, 1947, in Williamsport, a son of the late John T. and Maude (Smeal) Bannon.

Glen was a 1965 graduate of Montoursville High School and served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He attended Williamsport Area Community College and Clarion University and earned a bachelors degree in accounting. Glen retired from Fleet Material Support Office (FMSO) in Mechanicsburg after 30 years of service as a program analyst. After retiring, Glen worked part-time for Fisher Auto Parts and Health Network Laboratories. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle, where he was a member of the Heritage Club and had served on the school board for three years. Glen was also a member of the Mt. Holly Springs American Legion Post 674, the Loyal Order of the Moose in Carlisle and N.A.R.F.E. He was a wonderful husband and father and a most loving grandfather to his precious granddaughter, Shaylyn. He enjoyed spending time with his family. His final words were, " I have all my girls with me and I love you all". Glenn will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 40 years, Mildred M. (Smith) Bannon, two daughters; Lori Bannon and Stacie Bannon, both of Carlisle, one brother, Larry Bannon and his wife, Jane of Montoursville, his granddaughter, Shaylyn Bannon of Carlisle and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Dr., Carlisle, with Rev. William C. Forrey officiating. Burial with military honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard will be in St. Patrick's New Catholic Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be held on Monday from 6 - 7:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle and where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, 152 E. Pomfret St., Carlisle, PA 17013 or to the Shaylyn Bannon Educational Fund, C/O Members 1st, 5000 Louise Dr., Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
