Gladys L. Miller, 91, of Carlisle, passed away on Sunday, April 10, 2011, at Carlisle Regional Medical Center. She was born on Sunday, July 6, 1919, in Mechanicsburg, a daughter of the late Simon S. Loudon and Bessie Mae (Lower) Loudon Landis.
Gladys was a 1939 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School. She was a homemaker and helped run the family dairy farm for many years in North Middleton Twp. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Carlisle, where she was formerly active with the United Methodist Women and the Mabel Wierman Sunday School Class.
She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 64 years, Roy L. Miller, two sons; Jim (and his wife, Deb) Miller of Lititz and Marty Miller of Carlisle, two daughters; Ann Motter of Shippensburg and Cindy (and her husband, Les) Welsh of Newville, a sister, Vera Garth of Newport News, VA, 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Gladys was preceded in death by two brothers; William and Alfred Loudon, four sisters; Elizabeth Whitcomb, Marian Kile, Zelda Lechthaler and Jean Skakel and one granddaughter, Tara Lynn.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church, 64 E. North St., Carlisle, with Rev. John L. Shellenberger, Jr. officiating. In following the wishes of Gladys there will be no viewing. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until time of the services. Private burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to her church.
