Gerald (Jerry) McNeal, 84, of Carlisle, passed away on September 22, 2014, with his wife of 62 years by his side. He was born on Nov. 27, 1929, in Philadelphia, the son of the late Frank and Mary (Shadd) McNeal.
Jerry was a true son of Philadelphia. He loved his Phillies and Eagles even thru the tough years and was happy to celebrate the winning years. Jerry was a member of St Patrick Catholic Church in Carlisle. He was an avid reader and would serenade anyone with a song at the drop of a hat. He was retired from Iceland Seafood. He was a US Army veteran.
He was devoted to the love of his life, Margaret "Midge" and their six children; Michael (Janet) McNeal, Stephen B. McNeal, Jean (Ed) Douglas, Nancy (Alan) Yasalonis, Mark McNeal (Sarah Hite) and Diane McNeal. Jerry was the proud Poppop of Kelly (Bill), Jamie, Shaun (Trista), Stephen P, Joseph, Leigh, Jeffrey and Kala and to his great grandchildren Mikayla, Ariyanna, Avery, Jordyn, Morgan, Louis, Addisyn and Luca. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Colleen McNeal and his best friend Joe Hiererbocher.
A viewing will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2014, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 85 Marsh Dr., Carlisle. Father Brian Wayne will be the celebrant. A time of fellowship will immediately follow the service in the church social hall. Burial will then be held at Rolling Green Memorial Park, Camp Hill. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements.
