George Shinas, 77, of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at home.  He was born on July 22, 1946, in Patras, Greece and was a son of the late Athanasios Shinas and Eleni (Michalopoulos) Shinas.

George was a high school graduate and a retired painter.  He was a member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Camp Hill.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 51 years, Sharon A. (Yeager) Shinas, two daughters, Colonel Athanasia Shinas, USAF, of Hawaii and Maria Maddox and her husband SSgt (Ret) Thomas Maddox, USMC, two grandchildren, Thaddeus Maddox and Theodora Maddox, his mother-in-law Marian Ridington of Northumberland and three brothers and one sister all of Greece.

A funeral service will begin at 10:00 on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1000 Yverdon Drive, Camp Hill, PA 17011 with Fr. Michael Varvarelis officiating.  The burial will be in Duck Run Natural Cemetery in Penn Laird, Virginia 22846.  Flowers are welcome and may be ordered through Royer's Flowers in Camp Hill or memorial contributions may be made to https://rockrunanimalrescue.org/.  Ewing Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
