George J. Kaminsky, 89, of Carlisle, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024. He was born on February 24, 1935, in McAdoo,  PA and was the son of the late George Kaminsky and Elizabeth (Klonitsko) Kaminsky.

George was a graduate of McAdoo High School. He retired as Sergeant with the Pennsylvania State Police after 36 years of service with his last assignment at the Harrisburg Headquarters - Troop H. George was instrumental in designing the aerial speed enforcement for the PA State Police. George was a graduate of the PA State Police Academy, earned an AA degree in Police Administration from Harrisburg Area Community College and was a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Following retirement, George worked in security with Hershey Foods Co. and for Stor-Mor Self Storage in Carlisle. He was a member of St. Ann Byzantine Catholic Church in Harrisburg for 55 years, the Fraternal Order of Police and the Carlisle Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Jacqueline L. (Morrow) Kaminsky, one son George M. Kaminsky and his wife Cristiana of Olympia WA, two daughters, Michelle Kost of Carlisle and Tara Bobb and her husband Aron of Carlisle. He was the proud grandfather of seven; Marina Kaminsky of Portland OR, Meriel and Leia Kaminsky of Bellingham WA, Caitlin Deming of Phoenixville PA, Christopher Kost of Carlisle PA and Lilla and Ava Bobb of Carlisle PA. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Kaminsky and Barbara (Kaminsky) DeLash.

A viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 11, 2024, followed by a Divine Liturgy at 12:00 p.m. at St. Ann Byzantine Catholic Church, 5408 Locust Lane, Harrisburg, PA 17109. A private burial will be in Ashland Cemetery in Carlisle later in the week.  www.EwingBrothers.com.
