Rev. George E. Hufnagel, 66, of Carlisle, PA, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 20, 2014, at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. He was born on March 23, 1948, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Charles W. and Gladys Hufnagel.

George served in the US Army from 1968 to 1974 and earned the National Defense Service, Good Conduct and the Army Commendation Medals. He graduated from Westminster College in PA with a Bachelor's degree in Physics. He then earned his Master's in Divinity from the Western Theological Seminary in Portland, OR. George served 34 years in the ministry with the Christian Missionary & Alliance Church. Since 2011, George has enjoyed being the Chaplain for Chapel Pointe at Carlisle. He previously served 24 years as Senior Pastor at the Sunnyside Alliance Church in Secretary, MD. He also served churches in Sparta, NJ, and Cranbrook, British Columbia, Canada. George was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Orioles.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Anne "Babs" Hufnagel; his daughter, Stacey L. (husband, John Oesch) Hufnagel and their son, Brayden Oesch of Columbia, MD; two sons, Robert J. (wife, Lauren) Hufnagel and their daughter, Adele Hufnagel of Westminster, MD, and David C. (wife, Emily) Hufnagel of Baltimore, MD. He was predeceased by his sister, Jane Hufnagel.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at 1 p.m. in the Henry Chapel at Chapel Pointe, 770 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, PA with Rev. Walt Frankenberry, Rev. Fred Yearsley and Rev. Dr. Bob Hower officiating. Burial will be private. A time of fellowship will immediately follow the service at Chapel Pointe. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements.
