Fred was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard, 228th Brigade Support Battalion, Company E and Company F, Lock Haven, and worked for many years as a milkman for Turner Dairies, Penn Hills. He was a World Class power lifter and was named Mr. Pittsburgh in 1956 as a body builder. Fred was a Golden Glove boxer and a wrestler. He loved the outdoors and was an avid sportsman and trapper.
Fred is survived by his wife, Frances "Cookie" (Mumper) DeLuca of Dillsburg, his son, Frederick J. DeLuca and his wife, Denise, of Dillsburg, two daughters; Nancy Rodabaugh and her husband, Barn of Mill Hall and Darla Wise and her husband, Von of Lock Haven, two step-daughters; Deb Knoche and her husband, William, of Baltimore, MD and Jennifer Strine and her husband, Dustin of Carlisle, and one step-son, Robert Smiley Jr. and his wife, Crystal of Carlisle, his brother, David DeLuca of Canton, OH and his sister, Laura Goldman and her husband, Norman of Pittsburgh. "Pap" also leaves behind fifteen grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Mountainview Christian Fellowship Church, 145 Glenwood Rd, Dillsburg, at 11:00 a.m. with a memorial service to begin at 12:00 noon. Pastor Mark Gaus will officiate. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountainview Christian Fellowship Church (with a memo for Missions) P.O. Box 333, Dillsburg, PA 17019. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements.
