Obituary

Frances T. "Tommie" Sellers, 88, of Carlisle, died on Friday, December 25, 2015 in the Sarah A. Todd Memorial Home, Carlisle. She was born on February 25, 1927 in Lyndhurst, NJ, and was a daughter of the late George and Paula (Leyden) Thompson. She was the widow of LTC (Ret) Cloyd W. Sellers, USAF, who died Jan. 15, 2003.

Frances graduated from high school in Lyndhurst, and studied for several years at Penn State University where she met her husband. She later went back to school and received both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Library Science from the University of Maryland. She worked for the Prince Georges County Maryland School system. After relocating to Carlisle, she worked for the Carlisle Area School District for many years as head of Library and Media Services until she retired. Frances was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Carlisle and the Carlisle Garden Club. She was an avid Penn State football fan and held season tickets and continued to support the team with her attendance into her 87th year.

She is survived by three sons; C. David (wife, Beth) Sellers of Laurel, MD, Robert A. Sellers of Woodbridge, VA and Douglas W. Sellers of Alexandria, VA, four grandsons; William, Andrew, Robert Jr. and Matthew Sellers and one nephew, Charles Sidletsky of Gouverneur, NY. She was predeceased by one sister, Paula "Dolly" Sidletsky.

A viewing will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. in the Second Presbyterian Church, 528 Garland Dr., Carlisle, with Rev. Jeff Gibelius and Rev. Jennifer McKenna officiating. Burial at Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later date. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Carlisle Garden Club or Second Presbyterian Church.
