Evelyn graduated from Carlisle High School in 1931 and was employed as a cashier at the Orpheum and Strand Theatres. She married William S. Roney June 2, 1936. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, Carlisle since 1924.

She is survived by a daughter, Denise M. Ahern of Carlisle, a son, William K. Roney and wife Lois, of Camp Hill, three grandchildren; Bridgette R. Rohrbaugh and husband Jeffrey of Downingtown, Jason B. Roney and wife Jennifer of Madison, IN and Hilary S. Ahern of Menlo Park, CA, five great-grandchildren; William "Liam" K., Kyle John and Annalise Jane Roney, all of Madison, IN and Mallory Grace and Luciana Brooke Rohrbaugh, both of Downingtown and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, who died June 29, 1995.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at 10 a.m. in the Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle, with Rev. Dr. Marlin Snider officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to W.H.O. Sunday School Class, c/o Lois Kielkopf, Treasurer, 27 Greenfield Dr., Carlisle, PA 17015 or Horizons Hospice, 1200 Camp Hill Bypass, Suite 201, Camp Hill, PA 17011. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements.
