Evelyn N. Porter, 85, of Carlisle, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017 in Chapel Pointe at Carlisle. She was born on August 17, 1931, in Middletown, and was the daughter of the late Charles and Nellie (Gilbert) Ackerman.

Evelyn graduated from Middletown High School. She retired after many years of service as a secretary with the PA Department of Health in Harrisburg. She was a member of the Plainfield First Church of God.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Billy Lee Porter, one son, Donald B. Farner, Jr. of Grantville, two daughters; Cathy Harper and LuAnn Jones, both of Harrisburg, seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons; David C. and Randolph L. Farner and two brothers; Charles and Donald Ackerman.

Burial will be private in the Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. www.Since1853.com .
