Ethel M. Chestnut, 91, of Carlisle passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Cumberland Crossing Retirement Community, Carlisle.  She was born on July 26, 1929 in the Newville area and was a daughter of the late John E. and Edna J. (Baughman) Finkenbinder and the widow of Harold G. Chestnut who died Dec. 10, 1992.

Ethel was a devoted homemaker.  She was a member of St. Mary's United Methodist Church, Newville.  Ethel was a longtime member of the Upper Frankford Twp. Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by four sons; Leonard L. Chestnut of Shrewsberry, Dennis H. Chestnut of Duncannon, Randy E. Chestnut of Newville and Dean W. Chestnut of Newville, three daughters; Chloe D. Rupp of Newville, Cindy L. Hockman of Capon Bridge, WV and Christine E. Cohick of Newville, two brothers; Jay A. Finkenbinder of Newville and Roy E. Finkenbinder of Carlisle, four sisters; Marie Ziegler, Ruth Armolt and Doris Nickel all of Carlisle and Shirley Heishman of Newville, 13 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and Walter Morrison of Carlisle.  Ethel was preceded in death by brothers; Glenn E. and Lee K. Finkenbinder and two sisters; Mildred Bistline and June Baum.

A viewing will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2020 followed by funeral services at 1:30 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey N. Cartwright officiating.  Burial will be in Upper Frankford Twp.
