She was a 1946 graduate of Carlisle High School. Erma was a loving homemaker. She was a member of Centerville Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newville, a life member of Penn Twp. Volunteer Fire Co. and the Ladies Auxiliary, a member of Cumberland County Farm Women Group 15, the US Navy Armed Guard Veterans of WWII and was a former Girl Scout Leader. Erma will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by two daughters; Olivia Reeder of Carlisle and Karen (and her husband, Stephen) Wiker of Ephrata, one son, Brad (and his wife, Marlene) Dingle of Red Lion, one brother, Merle Swigert of San Jose, CA, five grandchildren; Jessica Nace, Melissa Wiker, Gregory Wiker, Julia Wiker and Kyle Dingle, one great-granddaughter, Olivia Nace and several nieces and nephews. Erma was preceded in death by one daughter, Deborah K. Dingle, who died in 1990, one sister, Thelma Quigley and three brothers; Clarence, Marlin and Everett Swigert.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Jerri Morton Carlin officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be held on Friday from 6 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
