Ellamae Renee Evans, 76, of Carlisle, passed away on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at UPMC Harrisburg.  She was born on June 5, 1947, in Carlisle and was a daughter of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Hinton) Evans.

Ellamae retired from Carlisle High School where she worked for a maintenance contractor.  She formerly worked for several area hotels in housekeeping and worked at the former Troy Laundry in Carlisle.  Ellamae worked as an attendant with the maintenance contractor for Carlisle Events at the fairgrounds for many years.  She attended Bethel A. M. E. Church in Carlisle.  Ellamae was a member of the Haines-Stackfield American Legion Post 826 Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by three daughters, Damita Pugh-Evans and her husband Antoine Pugh-Evans of Carlisle, Dorthia Evans McBride and her husband Adrian McBride of Bunker Hill, West Virginia and Vonetta Rae Thomas of Carlisle, two sisters, Clara Evans of Carlisle and Yolanda Hodge of Dover DE, nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by five brothers, Joseph Evans, Donald Evans, Robert Evans, William Palmer and Thomas Evans and four sisters, Ernstine Davis, Carlotta Wilson, Linda Baker and Dorothy Clark.

A viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2024, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle. The burial will be private.  www.EwingBrothers.com.
