Born on September 27, 1946, in Cumberland, Maryland, Betsy was the daughter of John William Lee and Nannie (Hammond) Lee.
She grew up in Allegany County, Maryland, and spent much of her adult life in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, where she and her husband raised their family and made many cherished memories. On December 2, 1972, Betsy married the love of her life, John Joseph Kerch, in Cumberland, Maryland. Together, they shared 48 years of marriage, building a life grounded in love, devotion, and family. John was her beloved husband, best friend, and lifelong companion. Following his passing on December 26, 2020, Betsy carried their love and memories with her always.
Betsy is survived by her daughter, Julie Kinkead, and her husband, John, of Grantville, her son, Jeffrey Kerch, and his wife, Tahmina Khan, of Fairfax, VA and her beloved grandchildren, Jade Kerch, Chase Kerch, and Jahsh Zaman. She was also the proud owner of Lizzie Boo, her very spoiled Lhasa Apso, who held a special place in her heart and brought her constant companionship and joy. Betsy treasured her family and the memories they made together. Her years in Carlisle were an important part of her life, filled with family, friendships, and experiences that helped shape her journey.
She will be lovingly remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and mother-in-law, as well as a cherished member of her family. Her warmth, love, and memory will live on through her children, grandchildren, and all those whose lives she touched.
