Elizabeth "Betty" Morrison Dum, 89, of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Harrisburg Hospital. She was born on November 18, 1930 in Philadelphia and was the daughter of the late Barnes P. and Frances (Shaw) Kelly.
Betty graduated from Yeadon High School and earned a Bachelors' degree in Latin with a minor in English from Wilson College in Chambersburg. Betty retired from the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot after 10 years of service and she worked for the Bureau of Elections for many years. She enjoyed being socially active and provided care for many children throughout the years. She loved the beach, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing and attended water aerobics. She was very active in her church and she was a friend to everyone. Betty will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her husband of 13 years, Thomas G. Dum, her children; Beth Chestnut and Mark (Margie) Carpenter both of Carlisle, Rick Carpenter of Newport, Linda (Ron) Farner and Susan (Steve) Hurley both of Newville and Lisa Hawkins of Carlisle, her step-children; Grant Morrison, Jr. of Delaware, Terri Eppley, Scott Morrison and Andy Morrison all of Carlisle, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by husband, Grant Morrison, Sr. who died in 1999 and one son, Eugene F. Carpenter IV.
Funeral services will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Rev. Brad Culwell officiating. Burial will be in North Middleton Church of God Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be on Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
