Edward L. Worley, 71, of Carlisle, peacefully passed awaywith family and friends by his side on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, in his home. He was born on Sunday, February 26, 1939, in Carlisle, a son of the late John R. and Helen L. (Strine) Worley.
He was a 1958 graduate of Carlisle High School and retired from the former Texas-Eastern Transmission after 27 years of service. Ed attended the Carlisle First Church of God. He was a life member and past President of both the PA Fire Police Association and the Cumberland County Fire Police. He was also a life member of the former Empire-Friendship Fire Co., Carlisle and a member of the Fireman's Assoc. of South Eastern PA, the Conawago Wood Carvers in East Berlin and the West Shore Carvers. Ed enjoyed hunting, especially during the black-powder season, and wood carving.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Sariann (McCurdy) Worley, a sister, Barbara A. (and her husband, Larry) Creamer of Carlisle,sisters and brothers-in-law;Betsy and Arthur Bittinger, Jr. andEdna and Ronald McKillip all of Carlisle and nephews; Matthew and Luke Creamer, Todd and Brian Bittinger, Doug and Dwight McKillip.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 29, 2010, in the Carlisle First Church of God, 705 Glendale St., Carlisle, with Rev. D. Alan Mathna officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be on Mondayfrom 9:00 a.m. until time of services. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Carlisle First Church of God or to the Celtic Healthcare of Carlisle, Suite 100, 220 Wilson St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
