Obituary

Edith Marie Kingsborough, 90, of Carlisle, passed peacefully at her home of 56 years with her family by her side on Monday, January 7, 2013. She was born on Wednesday, April 12, 1922, in Newburg, a daughter of the late Adam B. and Lenora (Deshong) Daihl and was the widow of Charles E. Kingsborough, her husband of 41 years, who died March 7, 1983.

Edith was a Shippensburg High School graduate. She retired from the former Piezo Crystal Company after 20 years. She had also worked at the Carlisle Hardware Store. Edith was a faithful member of Carlisle First Church Of God. She was also a member of the Ladies of the Elks, a longtime member of the Order of Eastern Star-Old Bellaire Chapter and a charter member of the Carlisle Swim Club. Edith had many interests including cooking, sewing, baking, candy making and tending her flower and vegetable gardens. She loved traveling, especially to the beach and day trips to musical shows. Her favorite times were spent with her family and friends.

Edith is survived by two daughters; Bonnie (and husband, Tom) Murray and Pam (and husband, Don) Hagerich, both of Carlisle, two sons; C. Stephen ( and wife, Linda) Kingsborough and Jim (and wife, Jane) Kingsborough, both of Carlisle, a sister, Edna (and husband, Claire) Kerns of Chambersburg, a brother, Richard (and wife, Judy) Daihl of Shippensburg, two granddaughters; Ann-Marie Murray and Amy Kingsborough, eight grandsons; Michael, Robert and John Murray, Tim, Tony and Drew Hagerich, Todd and Kyle Kingsborough, four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at the Carlisle First Church of God, 705 Glendale St., Carlisle. Rev. D. Alan Mathna will officiate. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, Carlisle. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to her church.
