Edith (Peg) Odessa Day, daughter of the late James and Ruth (Hinton) Coleman was born on August 31, 1938, in Carlisle, PA, was called home by the creator on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at home surrounded by her loved ones in York, PA.
Edith attended Carlisle High School. She retired from York International (Johnson Controls) where she loved her job after many years of service with the United Automobile, Aerospace & Agricultural Implement Workers of America Local 1872. She was a member of the Haines – Stackfield American Legion Post 826 Ladies Auxiliary, Carlisle. She worked hard, but she loved harder and she was friend to most everyone she crossed paths with.
She is survived by four daughters, Robin Anderson of Carlisle, Nicol and husband Harold Myers of York, Keeona Day of York and Getia White and husband Andre White, Sr. of Carlisle, five grandsons, Taren R. Day and wife Jerrica of York and with whom she lived, Trey J. Arter, Zyaire A. Riddick (Ketzy) and D'vyn Myers all of York and Sylvester Anderson Jr. of Carlisle, and Great Grandmother of Tykeria James, Knyzeria Day, Saudia Mercado, Saumir DeShields, Janii Day, Marcus DeShields, Jr., Samuel Day, Taren Day, Jr. and Khlani Riddick. Great-Great grandmother of Jkeir, Javhelia, Javiah, Ks'i, Andre III and Israel, two brothers, Gary Coleman (Dawn) of Carlisle and Duane Coleman (Cathy) of Harrisburg, two sisters, Beth Thomas of Ohio, and Gloria Coleman of New Jersey, and sister-in-law Carol Day of York and her sister Lindora (Penn) Johnson of Carlisle as well as a whole host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Along with her special son James Q Hamm. She was preceded in death by her late husband Samuel Morgan Day, sisters, Donnia Nealy, Leona Mason, and Ruth Hadley, brothers Richard Coleman, and Ronald J. Coleman, grandson Andre White, Jr., and son in law Sylvester Anderson, Sr.
A viewing will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 9, 2021, followed by funeral services at 12:00 Noon in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Pastor Duane Coleman at the officiant. Burial will be private. www.EwingBrothers.com
