Obituary

Earl G. McClintock, 97, of Carlisle, died on Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Church of God Home, Carlisle. He was born on August 17, 1919 in Shermans Dale, and was a son of the late George S. and Anna F. (Brownawell) McClintock, and was the dedicated husband of 69 years to the late Marian E. (Potteiger) McClintock, who died on January 31, 2010.

Earl was a U. S. Army veteran of War World II and served in the Pacific Theater around Luzon and participated in the Occupation of Japan near Honshu. He retired in 1981 from the Carlisle Barracks after 24 years of service. Earl formerly worked for Bethlehem Steel Co., and the Mechanicsburg Naval Depot. He was a member of the former First United Methodist Church and a current member of Carlisle United Methodist Church for more than 60 years. Earl was a member of the North Middleton Twp. Senior Citizens and AARP. Earl enjoyed his family, square dancing with Marian, walking at the mall, and having coffee with the gang at McDonalds.

He is survived by his loving family which includes; one son, Ronald (Saundra) McClintock of Carlisle, two grandsons; Lee (Megan) McClintock of Elizabethtown and David (Ashley) McClintock of Middletown, one sister, Lydia Sutton of Carlisle, one great-granddaughter, Grace A. McClintock of Elizabethtown and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by six brothers; William, Aaron, Archie, Cecil, John and Carl McClintock and three sisters; Goldie Wickard, Violet Ludt and Marie Motter.

A viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Rev. Mira Hewlett officiating. Burial with Military Honors by Cumberland County Honor Guard will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.
