Dr. Earl M. Barnhart of Carlisle, PA died in his home on June 6, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Louanne Barnhart (née Gallaher), sons; Joseph Barnhart of Athens, GA and James Barnhart of State College, PA and stepson, Andrew Dierks of Altoona, PA.

Dr. Barnhart was an alumnus of Dickinson College ('53) and the University of Pennsylvania Dental School ('56). He practiced dentistry in Carlisle for over half a century and enjoyed working with generations of local patients. In addition, Dr. Barnhart served on the Carlisle School Board for 20 years (1982-2002). In his spare time, he enjoyed thoroughbred racehorse breeding.

A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10. 2014 at the Carlisle Brethren in Christ Church, 1155 Walnut Bottom Rd., Carlisle. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3211 N. Front St. #100, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements.
