E. Arlene Myers Funt, 89, formerly of Boiling Springs, passed away on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 in the Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was born on March 12, 1927 in Carlisle, and was a daughter of the late E. Raymon Shughart and M. Ellen (Eppley) Shughart Miller. She was the widow of Justus C. Myers, who died in 1977 and John R. Funt, who died in 2004.
Arlene graduated from Mechanicsburg High School with the class of 1945. She retired from the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot after more than 25 years of service. She was a lifelong member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Carlisle, where she was active with the Peanut Butter Egg Ministry and the Quilters Ministry. Arlene was a member of the former Carlisle Business Women's Assoc., "The Flying Tigers" Auxiliary and the Boiling Springs Civic Association. Arlene enjoyed dancing, and she and her late husbands were members of several local area dance clubs.
She is survived by three sons; J. Leverne (and his wife, Linda) Myers of Morganton, NC, Ronald L. (and his wife, Marilyn) Myers of Cleveland, OH and Douglas E. (and his wife, Ellen) of Boiling Springs, one step-son, David (and his wife, Deborah) Funt of Carlisle, one step-daughter, Jackie Kreitzer,one brother, Sherwood E. (and his wife, Anne) Shughart of Oxford, four grandchildren; Jennifer (and her husband, Ed) Arellano, Jeffrey (and his wife, Shelley) Myers, Jackie Myers and Michael Myers, five step-grandchildren,four great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2017 followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Pastor Rob Moore officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. Memorial contributions in Arlene's name may be made to St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Louther St., Carlisle, PA 17013. www.Since1853.com
