Dorothy M. Slothower, 98, formerly of Mechanicsburg, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Chapel Pointe at Carlisle.  She was born on October 19, 1926, in Carlisle, and was the daughter of the late Wedward Chronister and Gertrude (Orris) Chronister.  Dorothy was married for 73 years to the late Clark L. Slothower who died October 25, 2021.

She was a 1944 graduate of Mechanicsburg High School.  Prior to starting her family, Dorothy had worked for several years at the Mechanicsburg Naval Supply Depot.  She was a loving and devoted mother, homemaker and farmer's wife.  She loved reading, crossword puzzles, Bingo and sewing.

She is survived by two daughters, Doris M. (husband Vince) Mitchell and Marcella G. (husband Leroy) Hippensteel both of Mechanicsburg, two granddaughters, Shannon M. Tanberg and Brittney M. Hippensteel, two great-granddaughters, Grace M. Tanberg and Charlotte R. Tanberg  She was preceded in death by one son Mark Slothower.

A viewing will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle with Pastor Steve Motter as the officiant.  Burial will be in Mt. Holly Springs Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Chapel Pointe Benevolent Fund, 770 S.
