Dorothy Jean "Jeannie" Richardson, 84, of Plainfield, PA, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, January 5, 2026.
Jeannie devoted her life to faith, family, and the arts. She was born to Mildred Marcell ("Marcella") Burris (née Jackman) and Eugene Burkett. Jeannie was preceded in death by her brother Harry ("Joe") Burris and her son-in-law Paul Runk.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Martin Richardson; son John Angevine and his wife Michele of Maryland; daughters Selena Runk of Newville and Karen Richardson Griffith and her husband Jim of Plainfield; four cherished grandchildren: Renee, Christopher, Jelena, and Aedan; four siblings: Barbara Jones, Floyd Burkett, Beverly Jane Burkett, and James Burris; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins across the United States.
Jeannie spent many years serving as Religious Education Secretary at Saint Patrick School in Carlisle, where her dedication and kindness touched countless lives. A gifted artist, she shared her passion for creativity by teaching hundreds of local students in her home studio for decades, inspiring generations to explore their artistic talents.
She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, generosity, and unwavering love for her family and community. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she taught, guided, and loved.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jeannie's life at Saint Patrick Church, 87 Marsh Drive, Carlisle, PA 17013, on Monday, January 12, 2026. A closed casket visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of the Mass at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow the Mass in the Parish Activity Center. A graveside service will take place at 2:00 p.m. for family and anyone who wishes to join at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, 1921 Ritner Hwy, Carlisle, PA 17013. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Katharine Drexel Scholarship to benefit needy students at Saint Patrick School.
