Dorothy E. (Mellott) Harders, 82, of Carlisle, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle. She was born on June 27, 1938 in Needmore, Fulton County and was a daughter of the late Sherman and Annie (Hauman) Mellott and the widow of Thomas Harders.
Dorothy earned her Registered Nursing degree from The Church Home Hospital and Nursing School, in Baltimore, MD in 1959. That was the year the school was accredited by the National League of Nursing. She completed her clinicals at Johns Hopkins. She served as the plant nurse for the Chrysler Plant in Newark, DE. She later worked as a nursing instructor for Cecil County Vo-Tech in Maryland. After relocating to Pennsylvania, she was a Nursing Supervisor and Director of Nursing for the Franklin County Nursing Home. She then was an assistant nursing home administrator for Cumberland County Nursing Home, earning her Nursing Home Administrator's License. She then worked as administrator for Sarah Todd Memorial Home in Carlisle and for the ManorCare Nursing Home in Camp Hill. She also worked as a RN. Case Manager for P.M.A. in Camp Hill, PA. After retiring she volunteered at Carlisle Cares.
She is survived by two daughters, Dawn M. Taylor and Kathy L. Myers both of Carlisle, one brother Maynard Mellott of Duboise, grandson Daniel (Ashley) Taylor, granddaughter Hailey Myers and four great-granddaughters, Mya, Adrianna, Shaina and Bella. She was preceded in death by one brother Gerald Mellott.
