Obituary

Doris E. "Dot" Butler, 88, of Carlisle, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at her home. She was born on October, 28, 1925, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Mack Dayworth and Ruth V. (DeWalt) Reffner.

Dot was a high school graduate, a loving homemaker and attended the Great Hope Baptist Church in Carlisle. Dot was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend to many.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, Melvin C. Butler, three sons; Ira (and his wife, Sandy) Landis of Oak Ridge, NC, Ken (and his wife, Adele) Landis of Elliottsburg and Larry Landis of Kernersville, NC, one brother, Charles O. Reffner of Dillsburg, 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and her best friend of more than 50 years, Miriam Barrick. Dot was predeceased by one brother, Virgil L. Reffner.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with Pastor Dale E. Barrick officiating. Burial will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. A viewing will be on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Great Hope Baptist Church, 110 Fern Ave., Carlisle, PA 17013.
