Doris Stone Adams, 88, of New Bloomfield, died on Sunday, October 26, 2014, at her home with family by her side. She was born on October 7, 1926, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Richard C. Stone, Sr. and Gertrude (Mohn) Stone. She was the widow of Frank J. Adams, who died Dec. 5, 2006.

Doris was a 1944 graduate of Carlisle High School. She retired after 30 years of service with the U. S. Postal Service in New Bloomfield. Doris also assisted her late father, "Stoney" with his bulk mail delivery business for many years. She was a member of the New Bloomfield United Methodist Church and was a former Sunday School teacher.

She is survived by her daughter, Jane A. (husband, Larry) Livingston of Carlisle, two grandchildren; Scott (wife, Elizabeth) Livingston of Carlisle and Amanda Livingston of Carlisle and several nieces and nephews. Doris was predeceased by one brother, Richard C. Stone, Jr. and one sister, Gloria Stone Ewing.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the New Bloomfield United Methodist Church, 100 W. Main St., New Bloomfield, with Pastor Jean Felty officiating. Burial will follow in the New Bloomfield Cemetery. A viewing will be held at the church on Wednesday evening from 6 - 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until time of the service at the church. Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, Carlisle, is in charge of the arrangements. Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to her church.
