Donald R. Hoover, Sr., 71, of Carlisle, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, at the Mercy House of Chambersburg.  He was born on January 30, 1953, in Carlisle and was a son of the late Lee A. Hoover, Sr. and Esther Mae (Jones) Hoover.

Donald graduated from Carlisle High School with the Class of 1971.  He was a longtime employee up until the closing of G. S. Electric in Carlisle.  Afterwards, Don went to work for Carlisle Syntec until his retirement.  He was a 19-year member of the Bonny Brook Riding Club and longtime member of the American Quarter Horse Association.

He is survived by two sons, Donald Hoover Jr. and Dwayne Hoover both of Carlisle, one brother Garry E. Hoover of Carlisle, three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  Don was predeceased by brothers, Robert W. Hoover and Lee A. Hoover, Jr.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle.  A funeral service will be at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 9, with Pastor Dan Mikesell officiating.  A viewing will be held on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the services  Interment will follow at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle.  Memorials in Don's name may be sent to Calvary Temple Church, 716 Forge Rd., Carlisle, PA 17015.  Please visit www.Since1853.com for condolences.
