Donald Alfred Cross, 82, of Carlisle, passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at the Lebanon V.A. Medical Center. He was born on Thursday, May 5, 1932 in Gettysburg, a son of the late Charles G. Cross and Ruth M. (Howard) Corbin.
Donald was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean conflict and was a recipient of the Korean Service Medal. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, American Legion Post 826, and the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where he served on the usher board.
Surviving are three brothers, Charles Cross of Pittsburgh, and David and Jack Corbin, both of York; two sisters, Vivian M. Coleman of Carlisle and Karen V. Reid of York; niece, Sherri (Frankie) Mosley of Carlisle; nephews, Scott Cross and Michael Coleman, both of Carlisle; and a host of other relatives.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Carrie K. Taylor, and three brothers, Steven, Jerry and George Corbin.
A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. until services at 12 noon on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, withApostle Dr. Brenda M. Altonofficiating. Interment will follow in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 409 N. West St., Carlisle, PA 17013.
