IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Diann Dupy
Drake
July 24, 1943 – May 10, 2024
Diann Dupy Drake, left this physical world on May 10, 2024 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania at the age of 80. Born in Port Arthur, TX on July 24, 1943 to the late Bennie Sue (Reynolds) and Thurman J. Dupy, she was lovingly referred to by her parents as "The Dupy's Darling".
Diann graduated from Port Arthur High School in 1961 and then went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree from Dickinson College in 1965. After college, she became a 7th grade English teacher in the Carlisle School District at Lamberton Junior High and Lamberton Middle School where she taught for 35 years and spent many years as the team leader for her 7th grade teaching group until her retirement in 2003. She had a passion for teaching, but knew it was time to retire when she began to teach kids and grandkids of the students from her earlier years!
During retirement, Diann and her husband Randy loved the years they spent together and with family. Summers were in Chincoteague, Virginia and Boothbay Harbor, Maine, while they spent many winters in Marathon, Florida. Diann loved being near the water, enjoyed seeing wildlife in their natural environment, and she became quite a photographer to capture it all. Diann and Randy also loved to go on cruises, seeing Alaska, the Caribbean, and the Panama Canal.
Each summer her kids and grandchildren would visit "Nana and Pappy" in Chincoteague where they would fish, catch and cook crabs, go to the beach, and enjoy "Nana's Happy Hour" of appetizers. Diann and Randy travelled to Texas each year to spend time with the family, and carry on the Christmas traditions, which are so fondly remembered. These memories were captured by Diann the photographer and meticulously recorded in scrapbooks each year for the family to look back upon and cherish.
Diann is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Randall V. Drake, as well as her children Allison Rand and Scott (Emily) Rand, her six grandchildren Max (Melody) Rand, Macy Rand, Alec Happel, Lily Rand, Chloe Rand, and Kale Graves, and her great-grandchild Penelope Rand. Also surviving are her sister-in-law Suzanna (Drake) and Eugene White, and special cousins Shirley Schneider and Barbara Rountree.
Diann will be interred at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens and to respect her wishes there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks any donations be made in her honor to the Building Fund for the Carlisle United Methodist Church, which is where she was a member. www.EwingBrothers.com.
